Barbara Jean Alexander
Barbara Jean Alexander passed away peacefully, at Seaforth Long Term Care Home on Friday, May 18, 2018. In her 84 years among us, Barb touched the lives of all who knew her with her radiant smile and her friendly demeanor. Throughout her 36 year teaching career, Barb endeavored to inspire her students with ways of wisdom and knowledge.
Barb will be lovingly remembered by her sons Randy (Jane) of Thamesford and David of Lakeside.
Barb will also be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, the Thornton family and many of her former students. In faith, we trust that Barb’s spirit now joins her beloved partner Gordon Thornton (October 2014) in eternal life, along with her parents Arthur and Catherine (née McBurney) Nicholson, her siblings and siblings-in-law Harold and Beryl Nicholson, Jack and Elizabeth Nicholson, Allan and Helen Nicholson, Ross and Lillian Nicholson, Murray Nicholson, and Gord’s children Gerald, Shirley and Angela.
Visitation will be held at McGlynn Family Funeral Home, 87 Goderich Street West, Seaforth (519-527-1390) on Tuesday, May 22 from 7-9 p.m. and again on Wednesday, May 23 from 1- 1:45 p.m. followed by a service to honour and celebrate Barb’s life at 2 p.m. Rev. Dwight Nelson will officiate. Interment will take place in Maitlandbank Cemetery and a reception will follow at First Presbyterian Church, 59 Goderich Street West, Seaforth. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to First Presbyterian Church, Seaforth or the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
