Obituary for
Raymond Edward Oliver
Passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital in London on Monday, March 28, 2016. Born in Windsor, Ontario, on Saturday, March 5, 1927, Raymond Edward Oliver of Hensall, was 89 years old.
Beloved husband of Fayleen Oliver (nee Wing) for 46 years. Loving father of Tim Oliver of Hensall, Phil Oliver and his wife Arlinda of Wilder, Idaho and Stephen Oliver and his wife Angie of Thomasville, North Carolina. Cherished Grandpa of Bradley, Alisha, Katie, Luke, Adrianna, Will, Grace and Jonathan. Dear brother of John Oliver, Joyce Brant, Bob Oliver and Mary Stevenson. Raymond will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by his parents William and Lillian, siblings Gladys Dalrymple, Bill Oliver, Art Oliver and Tom Oliver.
Ray spent his life in service to Christ. His time as a medic in the Korean War marked him with a patriotism for his country, and soon after he was saved and called to preach. He never sought the limelight or recognition for his work, but was always right where he was needed most. Although the churches that he pastored were not large, he stands as one of the most faithful men for the gospel and old-fashioned holiness. He was never known to waver in his dedication to Christ, nor to do anything that would bring a shadow on his character or reproach on Christ. It seems fitting that he should join His resurrected Lord on the day after Easter. “Death is swallowed up in victory”
Visitation will be held at McGlynn Family Funeral Home, 87 Goderich St. W., Seaforth, 519-527-1390, on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Raymond’s life will be held in the funeral home on Friday, April 1, 2016, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Josh McCarthy officiating. A reception will follow at the Seaforth Legion, Branch 156, and interment will take place in Hensall Union Cemetery later in the spring.
