Obituary for
Hans Walter Voss
It is with deepest sadness we announce the unexpected and peaceful passing of a very much loved Father, companion, husband and friend to many. Hans Voss of Seaforth, formerly Egmondville, was born 1929 in Grand Falls, Newfoundland. Son of Walter and Annie (Adams) Voss, the eldest of seven children.
Hans moved with his family from Nfld. to Kirkland Lake at 16. After high school he worked in the gold mines in northern Quebec for 2 years. In 1950 he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy. He retired in1980 after serving 30 years. Once in Seaforth he became a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion. “The Ol’ Man was proud to be the only sailor in a community of farmers.”
Hans was a very special loving father to twins, Marvin Voss of Toronto, Hans Voss (Barbara) of Germany and Alison Voss (Fitzgerald) (Terry) of Bomanville; also survived by his former spouse and Mother to his children, Marvena Voss of Bomanville, formerly Coboconk.
Hans dearly loved and missed his long-time companion Mabel Wright (predeceased).
Very special thanks to the friends and staff of Maplewood Manor Retirement and Seaforth Manor. And a very special Thank you to Hans’s dear friend Leo Greidanus.
Hans is predeceased by three sisters and one brother, Marina Martin (George), Greta Clayton (Dave), and Pat (Nola) Evans (Art). (Roger died in infancy.) Hans is survived by siblings, Sonny Holmes (Gord), Toronto, and Walter Voss (Anna) of Pennsylvania.
Hans loved and adored his three grandchildren as much as they loved him. Kathleen Fitzgerald (Chad), Emily Fitzgerald (Connor), and Wyatt Voss of Germany. Hans will be forever loved and missed by many nieces and nephews.
